Downtown Hot Springs, AR-Christmas 2014

Remembering the past twelve months, feeling gratitude for all they’ve offered. There’s been plenty to smile about and to be excited about; much to consider and decide how it will affect following moments. Most of all, they have given Kreative Inspiration that will flow into the new year. I’m happy about what has come, along with what is coming.

May your Christmas be merry and New Year’s day bright. And may your heart, mind, and soul be filled with delight.

Best wishes,

FICTION vs SEMI-AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Empowering Your creativity

Self portrait, Caroline Allen — Budapest 2006

Often new writers work from a semi-autobiographical viewpoint. We write about our families, our lives. We fictionalize it, but still the characters and setting are based on what we know. Well, we need to tell these stories. That’s often why we want to write. We see our lives as universal stories, full of truth and pathos that not only affected us, but can affect others.

I was working with a client on his book recently. He said: Everyone likes my final chapter the best, and it’s the only one that’s fully fictionalized. We started a discussion on why the fictionalized chapter might be more compelling than the ones based on “truth”. I realized that the same was true on a section of Earth, the novel I’m refining. The section most readers often liked the best was the most fictionalized. Here’s a snippet:

We were out back, on the porch. It…

Tips 4 Writers: Author of “I am NOT a Serial Killer”

Dan Wells is an awesome story structure instructor, in my opinion. Like he say is this video, there are no rules for writing, but the 7 point system he uses and the way in which he shares this information is engaging and easily understood. I found this to be worth sharing with you.

This is a 5 part video series with Dan Wells explaining his perspective of Story Structure. Video 1 and 2 explores the Hero’s Journey plot structure. Video 3 explores the Romance plot structure. What area of story structure does Video 4 and Video 5 examine? You tell me!:)

Best wishes with your writing.

Sincerely,

Getting in the Mood of Love (Inspiration for Kreativity)

GOOD MORNING! How are you, today?

I feel fabulous. I’m off to an early start on my project.

Novel writing takes time, energy, and ability to capture a particular mood within self and in the form of what is written. This is the way to magically transport readers from their personal world to a different place with satisfying experiences.

I’m not ready to give a full overview of the novel I’m writing, but I will say it will express love in some fashion…I’m designing the structure for that now.

It’s cold outside today. But, I feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Snow in the Promenade

A song from the cartoon movie Frozen started singing in my mind, “Love is an open door.” This led me to YouTube to have the full experience. I loved it.

After watching this video, I remembered my sister and her girlfriend. They were the ones who introduced me to the movie. My sister is younger, more outgoing, and social than I am. The older I became with concern about establishing a successful future the less engaging I was with my sister. This movie really did an excellent job portraying scenarios that feel familiar.

I identify most with the eldest sister. Here is the clip where she decides to “Let it Go.”

I enjoyed all three of these clips and now I am ready to rock and roll. My project awaits.

Tips for Writers (Scenes and Sequal)…are they working perfectly?”

Chances are since you have chosen to read this post you are in process of creating or recreating scenes in a written piece of work. I am working on a super awesome novel and today I went out into the worldwide web for information about creating effective scenes. A story, especially novel length, is nothing more than a beautiful necklace of scenes that readers wear with their imagination as they read. We, as authors and architects of these scenes, must confidently choose appropriate materials and design to achieve delivery of a true work of art.

I really liked visiting with the author who wrote the article I am recommending. Not only does he effectively explain Scenes and Sequals, in a way that was easily understood seeming easy to apply, his style is grabbing and insightful.
